My favourite types of game are RPG, particularly the Bioware/Interplay ones. That is, the Baldur's Gate series, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights (which is probably the best game in the whole world ever). Also liked Final Fantasy X on the PS2.
Other than that, I loved all of the Grand Theft Auto games, and none of them ever made me want to go out and rob/murder etc, so I don't know where all the controversy came from.

Probably painting the town red by taking chainsaws/baseball bats to innocent passers by that did it...

I'm not knocking the series, a personal favourite of mine. (But not my wife's - the only time I hog the telly is when a new GTA arrives for my dusty old playstation...)

I can assure you that the GTA games are dangerous. I'm playing 3 & Vice ciry at the moment, and if I get in my car after a few hours play I do find myself driving faster and having thoughts like "I can fit through that gap...just" while all the time in the back of my mind is the subconsious belief that if I don't make it the worst that'll happen is I'll walk away from a wrecked car. πŸ˜•

Never Winter Nights is a great one... I never finished the game cuz I was too busy messing around making it possible to have 3 or so hench-babes for my battle-bard-babe. πŸ˜‰

GTAIII I played last night... I've got all the cars switched up, and messed around with most all the signs and other textures. I really like Taxi and Ambulance missions... when I get bored I just drive like a nut till the guy gets out or the vehicle explodes... Run!

I have not finished that either, but all 3 towns are open. The game does not make me want to go out and start killing... but when I see a nice car I wonder if I could walk up to the door and pull someone out and take off like a nut!

I play all my games on PC, console games are fun... but if you can't tweak around with a game, I don't find it very fun. I will get an X-box soon for DVD viewing... and "Dead or Alive Volleyball"

Don't bother, unless you like watching movies with the equivalent sound of a lawn mower running in your front room.

Edit: And dedicated players are a good price these days.
