Since when have vinyl records become "cool"??
Is this just some thing people say they want in order to sound cool or is it something else? Vinyl doesn't last and sounds like garbage after a few years.
I see a bunch of "cool" bands are putting out vinyl records now as part of box sets.
Is this the latest trendy fad or what?

Apparently those with a 'good ear' can still detect the superiority of analogue (vinyl) recording over digital.
But I agree that every play of vinyl will deteriorate it. 🙁
As for cool? ... well its been cool forever!! Though I see that the retro vinyl market is in decline now - check-out your local boot-fair or E-Bay!

Originally posted by wolfgang59what those people are 'hearing' is actually the degradation in the analogue signal, surface noise and way inferior dynamic range. now, from a subjective viewpoint you could make the case of something with worse signal quality 'sounding better', like a distorted guitar for example. but the cold hard fact is that such signal is actually lower quality.
