Hi, I am trying to get my VOIP working, MS messenger, XP home.
I get the audio two way but there is this echo on my speaker or
earphone, doesn't matter. How can I get rid of that stupid echo?
There is an echo cancellation button on MSM but does no good.
Thanks. Don

I think you are stuck with it. The other persons MIC is too close to their speakers, so what you say is picked up by their MIC and relayed back to you...

I've tested it more than once and found the same problem. It's crap.

We both tried earphone plus lapel mics and had the same thing, no
loudenboomers hooked up, made no differance, the echo came right
into the earphones regardless.

Understood. Carp (anag.) technology then. Try a different provider?

I have never had much joy with MS messenger VOIP, but Skype works very well.

Headphones with a mounted mic will solve your echo problems.

wooo, another skyper! (I have a grand total of 2 people on my contactlist, one of them being SirLoseALot for the sole purpose of sending music files back and forth, as skype is just about th only program where my router doesn't block the file sharing.)

Skype is great for computer to computer calls, but a bit crap for computer to phone calls.

Plus, actually trying to charge your account is a nightmare. I gave up trying, and haven't even installed Skype on my new pc. I use Trillian now.

Oddly enough, I've witnessed the same problem with Skype. Plus, it isn't a SIP client.

What is SIP? for memory chips it means Single Inline Plug but
I rather gather its something else. The echo is there whether I use
earphones and mike or loudspeakers. I am wondering if it has
something to do with the soundcard.
