So, the two things that i want to have accomplished this time next year (besides maintaining my gym routine) is to learn sign language as well as voulnteer weekly at the infant ward at the hospitals; but called the hospital and the recordered messages didn't mention the information i needed -------- has anyone done or do either of those things and a) how to go about contacting the hospitals for volutneering and b) if i should register for a sign language course or self-teach ------- keeping in mind i work 23-30 hours a week and final year at SFU ---- however, classes only twice a week. I am going to the gym now; then running errands- but will be online around 8-9pm for a few hours; craving chess 😉 Well have a good day everyone and i look forward to talking to you all very soon --- 😀😀😀😀

Usually they have old ladies sitting around in rocking chairs. Think about volunteering for hospice. I've played chess with a few people who were dying. Chess is a lot like dying in that you are constantly giving up stuff and the game eventually ends.

I can't imagine how you'd self-teach sign language. I took a year of American Sign Language at a community college and loved it. I'd recommend going that route.

if you want to learn sign language the best way and easiest way is to volunteer at a local deaf community/centre. You'll have no choice but to sign and pick it up quickly...

I had a minister (female) friend/colleague a few years ago and she was very proficient is signing. She was asked to sign for this black comic that came to town and she had no idea what she was in for. This comic looked at her during the show and said, "I bet this lady ain't ever been asked to sign MF so much in her whole damn life." She was kind of prudish which made it all the funnier.

The lady should have pointed at the comic when the term MF was used.
