I'm in a bit of a quandary right now. I have worked for a company for two months now and get paid monthly, Booooo. Thing is they keep paying me short. Really short. Last week I was supposed to receive £400, I only work part time, and instead was paid £150. This won't even cover my rent, let alone food, bills etc. I asked my scheme manager about it at work and she phoned payroll. They said that they never received my sheet with my hours on through the post. My scheme manager said that they use that excuse all the time, so next time she is going to send in my hours by registered delivery.
Thing is, if they screw my wages up again, I am completely fluffed man! I've thought bout phoning parroll and telling them that if they don't get it sorted, I will have to report them to head office, and if theproblem persists, then threaten them with litigation. The last thing I want todo is start making waves though, I've only been with the company 5 minutes.
Anyone got any ideas? Pleeeeease? πŸ™

I work in a sheltered housing scheme. It is for a large national company in the UK. I don't really want to name names, as perhaps, making negative comments about the company I work for, may be in breach of my contract. It is a large company though, with a separate contract company that deals with wages.

You should probably get your scheme manager to deal with it for you if possible.

If they never recieved your hours/timesheet through the post then how did they know to pay £150? Surely you would have jack-squat if they really didn't receive them.

Anyhoo, my advice would be to phone up payroll and explain what happened. Then ask them what can be done to fix it as you've only been paid a third of your wages this month. If they don't suggest it, then ask if you can send your hours to them again so they can pay you the missing £250

ok here's what you do.... we have a separate company that deals with our wages and if someone has been short changed or not paid enough then go to your line manager, ask them to re-fax the timesheet then call the wages office to see if they have received it...let them know you cant manage on what you've been paid and you need a cheque please issuing for the outstanding amount owed...they can and should do it...if they say they cant then ask why not.its your money why should you struggle until next month..gawdsake the world cups on ...thats beer money

Maybe you could try and get a contact in payroll who you could call each week to check.

I had a similar thing happen to me once. Got a pay rise which wasn't implemented for months. Really got on my nerves, but once it was sorted out I did get a nice lump of wonga. Who knows, maybe you're in for a treat down the line. πŸ™‚

Don't stand for it though bud. Be a pest (in a nice way), just keep on at them.

If all that advice fails to work, go and see the CAB. It's free, and they'll even make some calls for you.

IMHO the CAB isn't so good anymore.

I went for some legal advice recently. Didn't take me long to realise the woman I was speaking to had less idea than me. Complete and utter waste of time. It's clear they some of the staff just have very basic training. Still, what do you expect for nothing!
