It's all well and good - sure - but, unfortunately, I think these thumbs are because of the excellent content of my OP. What I'm REALLY looking for is thumbs up REGARDLESS of the content.

Sorry, 8 thumbs. Does that complicate things? As you can see I’m one of those who doesn’t read things properly so one of the thumbs; mine, has to be genuine?

Yes. It's a spanner in the works. I haven't recruited anyone yet. The thumbing up I am attracting appears to be freelance.

Not that I care about the thumbs ~ far from it, I just like to see fairness and balance and an end to lopsided thumbery which can be misleading ~ but the seven might get a kind of 'common cause' kick out of it.

How will you perceive the difference? The only way might be to post something with absolutely no point or meaning. Other posters seem to manage this quite well but you would struggle, I think. You could try something like 'Today is Tuesday' (if you posted on a Tuesday) but someone might react to this in an emotional way because they like Tuesdays, and give you an emotionally motivated thumbs - up. It's a difficult thing to neutralize completely.

Edit: On the other hand they might thumb it down because they don't like Tuesdays, this being a case in point.

Recruitment is a process. It takes time. Obviously, those who thumbed up the OP ~ on account of it having good content ~ are not operating in the way I hope the "seven" will.
