Nothing but a big elaborate chase movie. Great special effects, but how many times can you sit through another run from the bad guys movie ? Where is the story line ? It's a very simple story line at best. The bad aliens are trying to kill us all.
I thought the soundtrack was quite astonishing in the way that it amplified the visual excitement. Very slick cinematography - Spielberg shines again. The kid who played the little girl was the closest thing to a believable character.
Sad that the ending (like the book) was based on Deus Ex Machina kind of priciples.
