claims he wrote his anti semitic articles out of sheer practicality - because he wanted to protect his wife and assets from the Nazis. What do you think?

Hard to say,when you didn't know the man in person.Life in Nazi Germany was not easy,especially if the propaganda machine was determined to use your fame.I've read a bit about Alekhine,and I don't think he was anti-semitic.I don't think he was pro- or anti-anything.It seems,he only ever cared about playing chess.
