This Newfie is going icefishing. He starts to drill a hole with
his auger when a loud booming voice says "THERE'S NO FISH DOWN THERE!"
So he stops drilling and moves a little ways and starts to drill again.
The same voice booms "THERE'S NO FISH DOWN THERE!".
So he moves a little further and is about to drill again, but the voice
immediately comes again "THERE"S NO FISH THERE EITHER!".
The Newf looks around and says "Who are you anyways? God?"

"NO I'M THE ARENA MANAGER!"

Newfoundland must be the most original name for a country ever created.

I find it quite suggestive that there's an Oldfoundland and a Newlostland as well (not to mention an Oldlostland or a Newfoundpuddle too).
They built a new road not far from where a friend of mine lives and after many long hours of contemplation, the council finally decided to give it the incredibly imaginative name "New Road"

It's nice to know they're really investing our taxes in top notch staff 😞

That's as bad as the bloody Euro!
I mean, of all the great currency names we used to have and they could have adopted, they chose the easiest and less interesting way possible.

Personally, I would have went with Florence (and cent, Dragma or Pfenning as the small change name).

Why did they need to name it?
I mean, you could just call it the Franc in France (actually they still do in some areas), the peseta in Spain, etc.
What difference would it make?

Unity man...

But, yeah. I never thought about not naming it. That's quite an intelligent remark.
