I have just arrived in Washington DC. Never been to the States before, you guys aren't as fat as the said you were.
Anyway, I have two weeks, a hire car, and an open mind. Suggestions please?
Things I've done already,
1) Bought lots of cheap clothes.
2) Seen the Caps take the Leaf's 5-4.
3) Worked out why no-one walks in the US. It's big over here.
So anyone who lives out here, or has lived out here, or knows about the North East, or anyone just too opinionated not to comment, what should I do before heading back to the UK?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
(Mikenay get back to work. Olliefrench I may have to miss football on the 20th my Gran died yesterday. Garyminford get of your arse and go to work.)

Yeah Bob's right. You've got to go to the Smithsonian. But if you get a chance why don't you drive up to Philadelphia and I can show you around. It's a nice city with loads of cold beer and loose women.
Originally posted by sasquatch672Just realised, if there are loose women we should probably forget the OTB, no point in wasting time.

Visit Arlington Cemetary with JFK's grave, and go to the shopping center just one station later.
And if you can visit the White House, do it, even if the guy living there is a funny puppet...
Everyone that said to see the Smithsonian is dead on. I'm glad you are taking that in. If it were baseball season, I'd tell you to go to Baltimore and catch a game in a nice stadium. You probably won't be able to get tickets to a Redskins game, but that is an experience worth having (or Philly for that matter, since you are going to meet up w/ sasquatch). I used to live in that area, but I can't really help you now, as I am in New England. If you don't mind driving a few hours, slide up to New York or Atlantic City, NJ. Could always find a good time there.
Originally posted by squaccermanif you're on an economy budget, you can always catch the $20 bus ride from DC to NYC or Philadelphia.
Come on people, a little help?
NYC weather is fine this week, only trouble is finding a hotel room as the hotels are all filled up. There is the YMCA option.
cheers,
