Just out of curiosity, why do some users choose not to show their country of origin flag? They all look pretty cool, after all.

Because where you're from doesn't matter.

I mean, you could be an American person pretending to be British for all we know.

I can not imagine anyone wanting to do such a thing.

I've seen people pretend to be all sorts of things, this is the internet...

No of course it doesn't matter, as such. I love that about chess, that it makes your cultural origins and language irrelevant, don't you? But I also love the idea of playing people from different backgrounds, and it's nice to have an idea of what that background might be, n'est pas? And I can't imagine why anyone would want to pretend to be British! Well, apart from for immigration purposes. And I think they check stuff.

Cool? I think not sir, until RHP has a pirate flag option or one with Saturn on it!

For a long time I did not show a flag. I guess I see enough flag-waving here in Texas, US and it made me want to move through this electronic chess world just as a player. My profile contains enough biographical info for those who might be interested. Two of my clan-mates started nagging me about not putting a flag up and so just to shut them up I picked a flag at random and have been changing it every couple of weeks or so since.

Thanks for the reminder, I was South Korea, now I'm Honduras! 😉

I'm sorry, but not your best effort. :'(

Have you been drinking? Wait, you're from Texas and it's Saturday night so of course you have.

Or he could be one of the vast number of users here who are honest. And not paranoid.

I know how shocking that is to you, but it's still the vast majority.
