Stops at the group phase, as far as I'm concerned. Although might organise a play-off if there is a tie.
Obviously anyone else could organise something similar for the knock-out stage, but it gets more complicated (unpredictable fixtures, etc.).
The fixture will be well known for the next round. e.g., after Holland-Argentina, Argentina will play against Mexico and Holland against Portugal.
May be I am missing something?
You could make another poll for the 8've finals. And then add up points accumulated got by all the people up to now.
This is a thread that I'm following with great interest, altho I'm a rookie at football.
Thank you very much for starting it. Your effort to keep it going is to be comended.

ps: my point of view may be too simplistic, so if you should stand me corrected do so
My non subs rec for you

I have a feeling if the scores were scratched you'd probably get quite a few more people wanting to take part in a last 16, qf, sf, final prediction competition.
But people can organise whatever they wish.
Originally posted by dottewellYes, I understand. But I think one can introduce a weight factor into the formulae that is used to evaluate the points. Say, a factor of 1 for the groups, a factor of 1/2 for the 8's, and so descending. It would be somewhat complicated in practice, I know. People *new* to the poll in the next round would receive 0.5 for an exact match, for the approx result and so on. (but only new people entering the contest!)

Oh well. It's only an idea. Very complicated, indeed.

EDIT: oh, forget it!.
It is way too simple to have a poll for every round. Who has the better results at each round (taken the mean) will be the winner!
😉
