I think it would be hard to say, "I'm not going to eat meat anymore", without having a solid plan.
Since I decided to become a vegetarian little over a week ago, I've done so so. Some days I managed to prepare a veggie meal and some days I just fell back to what I know.
Is it this hard for everyone whom decide to become a vegetarian, or is it just I who are weakminded? 😞
Are you going vegan or just vegetarian? Is fish ok? Eggs?
Originally posted by stockenThe key question is why have you decided to become one?

The gas released during a flatus event frequently has a foul odor which mainly results from low molecular weight fatty acids such as butyric acid (rancid butter smell) and reduced sulfur compounds such as hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell) and carbonyl sulfide that are the result of protein breakdown. The incidence of odoriferous compounds in flatus increases from herbivores, such as cattle, to omnivores to carnivorous species, such as cats.

But I can't just switch like that. I need time. Give up meat? Ok. I think I can do that. But give up everything I know about when cooking (egg, milk, butter, fish, cheese and so on). What should one use instead? It gets a little too complicated for me there, so I'll take it gradually.
😕

And then after I hadn't had meat in so long I didn't want it or sweets anymore.

Also, MorningStar meat substitutes are the closest tasting things to meat I've ever tried. The hot dogs aren't half bad.

Uhm...
Anyone got any good recipe's they'd recommend? 😕

Being a VegiNazi...vegan..is much harder..cause there are so many dairy products in many things you eat. Good luck to you..!
However after livin in Russia and Japan..I am a happy carnivore and eat whale, dog, horse, etc..with relish...
Bye the bye you are killing living plants and vegetables when you consume them as well. Does that make the life of a plant less than that of an animal? We are all made of stars you know.....

Right. Got it. Thanks. 🙂
Since I'm doing this in protest against the animal torture all over the planet, I can't eat a lot of candy either. When making things like wine gums they use gelatin which comes from the fat of pigs. I had no idea until just a few days ago.
Seems like whatever I do, I am somehow contributing to the suffering of others somewhere. 😞
Oh, well. Noone can say I'm not trying. 🙂

For me, I decided not to be a vegetarian but just not to eat meat any more. So, I'm a non-meat eating carnivore and at some point might become a non-smoking smoker too. I draw the line at becoming a non-boozing anything.
More seriously, I knew for a fact I couldn't just stop eating everything I liked so, for the time being, I'll keep fish and dairy products on the menu. Also, I decided not to be too religious about it. I was cooked a meal recently with chicken in which I ate quite happily and was also recently at a restaurant with no non-meat dishes on the menu. There seemed no point in making a fuss about it so quite enjoyed my lamb vindaloo.
I find if I just don't buy the stuff, I feel I'm doing OK considering I never, ever thought it possible that I would ever do anything like this.
Just don't be too hard on yourself and do whatever you can.
