Has anyone here eaten jackfruit? I’ve just heard about them on the TV today.

No, it looks completely different. It has become a favourite with vegetarians and vegans because it has a fibrous texture like meat and can absorb different flavours. I haven’t tried it myself or come across it in the shops.

Kosher dill pickles on, fresh(ish), wholewheat bread and Old Cheddar cheese. Mmmmm. Oh, with a spicy Venison Pepperette, on the side...OK maybe two. 😉

Yes it's similar to durian, well it looks and smells similar but the taste wasnt as strong.

Think it's from India or s.e Asia.

When it's ripe here it's eaten as a fruit and when it's still "young", it's eaten as a vegetable - usually cooked in vegetable milk. I'd say I eat nangka (jackfruit) about three times a week with rice. It is tender. I eat it as a fruit once a week. Interesting taste: slightly reminiscent of bubble gum - but not in a bad way. It is a wee bit chewy.

There is a version of jackfruit stew that is famously from the city I live - called gudeg - in although it has been brought to places all over the archipelago by the Javanese diaspora:
