I would like to discuss some of the philosophical/psychological ideas...

Now reading: Becky Chambers the long way to a small angry planet.

People who liked Kaywinnit Lee „Kaylee“ Frye in Firefly will love Kizzy the board mechanic of the spaceship...
I am through witn the book it was a wonderful ride. I could recomend this to People loving SciFi, the Exploration of interspecies relation and emotionally moving Scenes.

    Das Glasperlenspiel by Hermann Hesse

In fact I have read the book some 30 years ago and find it much less appealling this time around.

    Funny how that happens.
    As in, nearly always.
The Indian/Native American adage that we can't cross the same river twice comes to mind.
One book which holds up every time (of which I wish they made a movie--- maybe have ol' George Clooney run with it) is Kindling by Nevil Shute.
Every single time: takes you right there.

    George RR Martin Armageddon Rag

Not at all mainstream, seems also to be much mor autobiographical.

The man can write and was able to in the 80's 😉

This novel - A Legacy of Spies - is a reconnection with 'The Spy Who Came in from the Cold' and also 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy'. I have just finished it: if you like John Le Carré, this is a book for you.
