My hazel eyes get lighter in the summer, with all the sun. When they get lighter, they look more green. In the winter they darken up and look brown.

I guess they could lighten up and turn green with a lot of snow?

What conditions were in the picture with greener eyes? Had you spent a few weeks in brigher light than other pictures taken? I think exposure to light has a lot to do with this, not just lighting in the picture.

hmmm... Texas is like summer all the time, so I would expect them to be greener all the time.

What makes you think they are hazle if you've only seen them green once? Just a lighter brown?

This may be an oversimplication...
but it seems to me that when it is bright out, your pupil is contracted, your iris is stretched out more and therefore the color looks lighter.

If it is dark, your pupil is dilated, your iris is contracted and color appears more dark.

Call me crazy, but that is how I always thought of it...
😛

another thing to point out is, anyone who is looking into your eyes enough to tell you they're three different colours, probably wants to date you 🙂

I never considered iris size... and it makes a LOT of sense.

If the brownish iris streches to block sun, the color will be lighter. If it is dark, the iris will crunch up and get darker.

I bet this can be noticed on any color eye.

maybe, but most other eye colors would stay the same color i think, just lighter or darker.
