OR do a search for clubs in Toronto here:

http://www.chess.ca/

OR hell, pick a bar in midtown (yonge & eg) and buy the first round and I'll bring my board.
Are you asking me out? This is a gay-related thread, you know. πŸ™‚

EDIT: whoops, no it's not... still had my mind on those chaps...

actually, 7 years here is almost gotten to be enough. i find myself becoming more and more domesticated each day. this forum tends to be a form of therapy for me that works pretty damn well.

yonge and eligible, eh? you ever go to Berlin (snicker) - where men meets woman?

ah.. no. I'm a bit old for Berlin. (I think I exceed the maximum IQ limit as well, but that's a different issue)

local places I like tend to be the pubs and a few restaurants...

if you ever get the chance, "Across The Road" is a wonderful restaurant with great service. There's also a new Thai place on Eglinton called Lime which is pretty good, but get the young lady waitress, because the guy is a grumpy prick.

as for pubs, I'd say the best hangout in the area is "The Longest Yard"

Just curious - is there a connection between these four characteristics??
(Never mind the squiggly lines)

Does this define a civilised/uncivilised country??
Or a moral/immoral one?

Or is this just to pass the time, EDG?

I used to frequent the area around 4 years ago but cabs home used to hurt my slim wallet but I should get up there soon. My main vice is nice restaurants and they have a plethora of them there. The best that I went to in that area was Zucca. What a chef!

Other than that, I've drank my face at most pubs around there and have even done a few karaoke numbers at Kramers...

We have roundabouts that you don't seem to have in america.

Anyway:
Gay Marriage - soon, maybe.
Death penalty - not for 50 years or so.
Chess clubs - yes.
Abortion - legal.
Squiggly lines - I'm still confused.
Yay! Alex just introduced me to roundabouts a few days ago! We don't have them here, unfortunately.
On the roads in the UK they have squiggly lines painted

I also thought that the USA had no roundabouts, and was therefore very shocked when I came across a "rotary" in my hire-car on my vacation in New England last month. They're not proper though, they don't have multiple lanes on them or filter lanes or any other high-tech traffic jam creators like our proper British ones.

One great thing is that (in most places) in the USA you can turn right at a red traffic light... great fun, watch out for pedestrians!
