Seriously, this is by far the funniest message board post I've ever started!

But seriously....

in regards to the last post that for some insane reason insinuates that chess players are not all that aesthetically pleasing. please go find the book "Chess Bitch" I can't remember the girls name, but she's a highly rated chess player ...[text shortened]... it Polgar would throw some make up on and dress sexy, I in all likelihood would hit that 😛
It's not the attractiveness or otherwise of the chess players it's the way they are filmed. Flat lighting, unimaginative or inappropriate setting, odd compositions, homespun graphics, mismatched clothing, poor sound quality...and this is just the good ones. I know that "content" is king but wouldn't it be nice if there was just one you could feel comfortable showing to a friend. None of the changes I'm suggesting need cost much.

However, I would like everyone to answer this that reads it. 🙂

I for one, work in the insurance industry.

Executive as an intellectual job, that's rich.

I write software for a "direct internet marketer". I was a licensed CPA for a while but wasn't any good at it. Majored in CS and accounting, total waste for me. Should've done something interesting, like folklore. Or maybe astronomy. So to all the high school students posting to this thread, I should probably have some sort of cautionary advice, but I really can't think of anything.

Interesting you should say this.

In my local club I think 5 of us have PhD's (2 Chemistry, 1 Physics, 1 Computer Science and 1 Medieval Languages) and nearly all of us a have degrees, in the local league there are many more PhD's out there.
So based on this I would say yes the majority of good chess players are quite intellectual.
