What do you do when you must stay awake

Here I am at work again as usual, only this time I am without sleep.
You see, I work throughout the night, and sometimes my daytime schedule will interfere with any sleep I may get. So my question is, When you must stay awake after many hours of already being up, what do you do to help you stay awake?

This is part of what I do, place messages online, while drinking Mountain dew and splashing cold water on the face.

can i insert the generic coffee / other caffeinated drink entry to this thread?

otherwise cold air, and music are good tools.

I worked midnights for a long time, and while I didn't care so much if I fell asleep at work, I had a fairly long commute where it was much more important for me to stay awake. My tried and true method was: talk radio. The more obnoxious the program, the better. Listening to music never worked very well in keeping me awake. It was too easy to sublimate what you were listening to. But listening to people speak, or carry on a conversation, seemed to engage the active mind substantially more. Especially if you're offended or angered by what the idiot on the radio is raving on about. It always worked for me.

Push-ups whenever you start to nod off, get your pulse going. Also running around outside, loud-fast music. And one of the best solutions is to have someone else staying up with you so you can keep each other awake.

Yeah, maybe you should read the dabates or spirituality forums to stay awake.

I was w/o sleep for the last couple days. I went from sunday morning to last night. And when you're that tired, caffeine is the worst thing for you.

Today I feal bad.. last night I went asleep at about 8am erm yesterday.. just woke up about 45mins ago.. I was around my friends till 5am playing chess. But today I was ment to cut the grass & dig up a flower bed for my nan. Obviously I didn't make it this is 2nd time in a row now I let her down. And its all because I can't get asleep and wake up at proper times.

Edit: Lucky my aunt went around there because she would have waited in all day on her own 🙁 and also rebooked to friday morning and said sorry when I phoned her just now.

Whats been tough lately for me is the fact that, I work behind the counter of a hotel as the Night Auditor. Sadly power naps, going for jogs, and pushups just aren't viable solutions. Thought about the blood drinking idea, just a bit to salty and hard to explain the red stain on the white shirt. talk radio may be alright. and I could stay up for that, but you are also hinting at the amount of annoying talk you will hear. any other ideas would be welcomed in here too though.
