Does the 'His Dark Materials' trilogy by Phillip Pullman count as fantasy?
If the book or movie can turn into a horde of middle aged men disguised in a way
that includes pointy ears and/or the use of a fictional language, and they end up
attending a convention originally intended for kids... then it is fantasy.
Voilá! 🙂

They're maybe a bit dated, as they're about a college student who find himself in a world where animals act like peope, and he can cast spells by playing tunes on a guitar. Guitars were more popular than they are now, i guess.
I'm as young as you can be to play on this website, so I'm probably not too young.

Robert Jordan was ALOT better when he was writing Conan.
So my suggestion is start with Robert E. Howard...because he wrote alot besides just Conan...and then read the other authors who took up the Conan mantra.
Also Michael Moorcock was mentioned...his stuff is really good! I have to say I liked Corum better than Elric...and could never really get into Count Brass or Hawkmoon.
