1. A conversation between people in a casual and non-specific way, as distinct from the often specific topics in Debates and Science forums.
2. An entertaining read for other people who may or may not feel the need to add their thoughts to the thread.
3. Some sort of race to achieve a distinction in one or more ways:
- highest number of threads started
- highest number of threads posted in
- highest number of overall posts
- highest number of "last word" posts
- highest number of Page1 owned threads.
Somewhat pointless ambitions to me, but what would I know?
4. Simply a way to fill in short periods of time when opponents aren't making frequent moves and you can't be bothered getting up from your chair.
Perhaps others can think of other viewpoints ...
Originally posted by KewpieMaybe to vent, rant and attack other people. Nah, no way. Couldn't possibly be possible. lol

Sorry, I don't look at links. They're rarely worth the effort.
Rule of this thread: absolutely no content (except for this rule-stating post, of course)
Post only a link. Hopefully the next poster will find a related link and so on.

I like witty posts and I know there are many here who have a great sense of humour.

I don't like the links because they are like footnotes to the story and I prefer the continued narrative. Although David Foster Wallace made a nice living inserting footnotes into his stories - so to each their own.
Also I rarely click on anything a complete stranger tells me to click on.
um, no thank you.
But again to each their own - seems to work for lots of folks.
What is a general forum thread is a great question - major props to the OP.

Hang on folks. Forest/trees..."General discussion. If it's off-topic, or you're not sure where to put it, put it here." It was soo obvious eh?🙄
