I would like to see the forums closed to non members...that way small children can't wander in here totally unsupervised.
I would never be happy seeing this forum closed to non-members. The discussion of minors is a totally different one.

By non-members I meant people who had not registered to use the site, not non-subscribers.

Do you still have a problem with that?

Are you serious? How many people who are not registered do you think look at these forums? Out of those, how many are under-age? Out of those, how many do you think see something that they perhaps shouldn't? And out of those, how many would, upon finding this site closed to non-registered members, be saved from the perils of the internet?

There are actually a few problems with that.

For starters, there isn't a guaranteed age validation process for registration, so anyone can register anyway.

People also like to see what the site is like before they register.

Also, a number of people who cannot see the forums will just register out of curiosity to see the forums, and then leave. Hence a lot of unused accounts being created. I am sure Russ will be happy about that. 😛

LMAO! That was too funny!

I love the way you tried to present that as logical.

Personally, I thought the site was more fun somehow a year ago... dunno what exactly, most likely the general forum (and others too). I used to write lots, but a lot of my friends have disappeared... and I often write a response and then think "... nah..." and just close the window again. Oh well, wouldn't know what to change about that though 🙁
I still like the site in total though.

So you're just going to be antagonistic to an opposing view instead of actually dealing with it sensibly, how predictable.

That wasn't specifying that the *same* people who like to see the site was the *same* people who don't.

EDIT: I admit that my original post wasn't very well worded, but my intent should have been quite clear what problems would have arisen if non-registered people couldn't see the forums. As Starrman pointed out, you are being deliberately antagonising.

Five years from now Russ will say, "If I haven't cleared my 'to do' list in 5 years, then you can sack me."
