From my POV, it's the high percentage of gloomy, grim, brutal, pretentious, pompous, and portentous material in their catalog.

@suzianne saidOn my side, I think I would prefer the noble aspirations of the LOTR series (if it has any) to the brutality of the new GoT series (although I do understand that GRRM had based GoT on the real-world brutality of the Euro middle-ages -- which we are still capable of).

I do still love HBO's Westworld, so that's a point in their favor. I resubbed just to watch S4 (which I haven't done yet). I'll probably also watch The Batman and that will be it for this one month of sub.
