    Over here in eastern mainland Australia, we're ahead of most people, although behind wolfgang in NZ and others in Pacific Islands. But if you're talking about time of day, almost everyone's ahead of us, just on a different day. 15.40 AEDT.

    I once met someone from Hobart who told me that Tasmania is the Australian mainland with a large island off its north coast that is also populated by Australians.

    Kiwis told me they refer to Oz as the west island. They also said, when asked about what they do with the contents of the spittoons at their wineries, that they bottle it up and ship it to the west island.

    Yes and the Darwinians (no pun intended) refer to all south of them as "Mexicans" , I am reliably informed.
