I don't get spam and I have no filters... my email address is two years old.
If you look after your address you won't get spam.
Don't forward chain emails. Don't sign up for anything with your main email account. Keep a second account for that. Don't be an idiot. Don't put your email address on a petition no matter how noble you think you are being.
In short, if you are getting spam, 99% of the time it is your own fault or it is the fault of someone you know who is using your email address to sign up for something stupid, like "if you enter 10 email addresses you will get a free cell phone". Then people start spamming you. Then people start making anti-spam software. Then the spammers try to keep ahead of the anti-spammers. And then there's a cold war in your inbox.

If your emails are part of a wensite on cheaper hosts you will almost certain get spam.. some of us have business reasons to be in this category.
Thunderbird was great cheers but wasn't enough to cope with business apps on a network.
Spamfighter from spamfighter.com was the solution... it works seamlessly with outlook and is endorsed by microsoft. I've gone from over a hundred spams to virtually none and all my outlok functions work fine unchanged. No accounts or add ons to set up either.
Thanks everyone..

I had to change my email address because I was getting over 100 of the things a day. Now the spam is down to about 4. Avg has a spam filter, not as good as the best I gather. I wish I could get rid of the four that comes in but it doesn't increase past that so I just delete it. I know its useless to just block because the address changes every time.

Unless they suddenly stopped sending them at exactly the same moment.
I have AVG email scanner on too, but I think that just scans for viruses etc without blocking spam, doesn't it?.

It was really easy to download and install.. believe it from someone not keen at reading a lot of instructions.. this thing has put a smile back on my face 🙂
