I've got two 21 speed mountain bikes.
One bike only shifts on the front gear giving me 3 speed.
One bike has nearly NO brakes.
What is the better bike for traveling long distances?

seriously though, i'd personally chose the bike with nearly no brakes, unless there was some super fast descents on the route, you might want your brakes in case you over cook a turn.

You guys must NOT live in cities. Without brakes I'd have died 20 times over already.
The best is the ol' "door prize". Anyone ever got one before?
Originally posted by PhlabibitI've never got it either. Sometimes I find myself watching only parked cars waiting for some ditz to send me flying, instead of watching the actual road. I've got THE FEAR!

i've come across a few idiot drivers but thankfully done involving them opening a door on me. 5 mins takes me out onto country roads though so i don't get bothered much by cars here.

I've seen some angry cyclists do some crazy thigns in this city. Kick cars, threaten drivers, get in people's faces. It's a friggin' warzone out there. Check this out:

the second link is madness, the guy looks like a total prick. what's the population of t.o? used to live in belfast with at 300k you had hardly call a city but one that was clearly not made for cyclists, i didn't ride that much within the city but every time i did i hated it. what's the point in going out on a bike if you can't relax and get some speed built up? not to mention the car fumes.
