@Great-Big-Stees saidYes, the initial freedom and euphoria is amazing. I remember just socialising, womanizing, drinking [what we call 'liming'], for more than 6 months before I finally decided to start a business or two. And of course you have loads of 'friends', who always need help... ๐
I, “officially” retired 14 years ago and enjoyed it, for about a month of doing nothing, then I got bored. Although I enjoy golf and skiing one can’t do that all the time (in seasons of course) so an opportunity came along where I could, for about 3-4 hours a day, deliver drugs (prescribed) to shutins I grabbed it. Oh and once you’ve retired, at least this is what I f ...[text shortened]... ve me a hand with (enter anything).๐ Keeping active both mentally and physically is the way to go.๐๐
@moonbus saidSimilarly: being able to keep my own hours. Just not having a schedule is quite a nice perk!
1. I can take a nap whenever I damn well please (though I try not to do it behind the wheel).
2. I have the full support of my dog in this.
Anybody else here retired? There's much to like about it ...
Far fewer deadlines, and not having to work with others who had difficulty meeting deadlines.
Also, not having to work with people who didn't quite pull their own weight or who had surprising manners.
@Arkturos said4. Chess. I play much more chess than before. And nobody tells me it's just a stupid game and I'm wasting my time.

@moonbus said4a) As I become even more involuted, perhaps I might spend more time learning some self-working card tricks, because I actually do like to fool myself.

4b) As for wasting time, or whether one has wasted one's life -- perhaps a topic or topics for other threads.

@Arkturos saidYou seem to be complaining about personal information that YOU gave to a stranger over the internet and have been carrying on about it for weeks.
Please do go on.
Ladies and Gentlemen, "Paul Martin" has been dribbling out the details of my personal location (distributed across several posts) and now he has posted the date of my birth (in American order).
What do you make of that? Do you condone such behavior?
I do appreciate @Orangutang's previous link about "The Streisand Effect" -- however, I don't mind rep ...[text shortened]... the sake of anyone else who might consider posting in the forums or paying for an RHP subscription.
Internet 101 - NEVER give out personal information.
BTW - most RHP members are aware of the US / European date formats.
When we had our early interactions you seemed a decent bloke; what has happened?
PS - retirement is WONDERFUL - I play chess; I play the stockmarket; I live in South Tasmania with my beautiful wife and gorgeous rescue dog on a hill with wonderful views.
For mental stimulation (apart from chess) I do various puzzles and so on and for the best laughs I read the RHP debates forum.

@Martin saidSorry about this, because it seems we have been on friendly terms, but that might come across to some as victim-blaming.

I never gave "Paul Martin" my street address or date of birth. He must have looked those up on his own for the sake of further harassing me.
Something for others to consider, I would imagine.
@Arkturos saidQuestion - how would anyone be able to look up your date of birth?

@Martin saidWhy don't you ask "Paul"?
