Not necessarily, people can grow up as cynics, I have met some at school.

I'm not sure I agree. Well, not entirely, anyway. I think it's possible to be cynical in general - to believe that the average person you encounter is looking out for himself first, and is only being pleasant because it is easier than the alternative - but also believe that for all of us, there are a few exceptions who really do love you and whom you really love. Such people may be happy despite that general cynicism, because for them the few exceptions are enough.
