You don't need attention, pparrish, you need SpellCheck.
Where chess originated is very ambigous. There are several theories dating back to different Egyptian or Indian games. No one person sat down and created the game, but it evloved from other games and through variuos cultures. When it actually became chess is a topic of speculation.

just curious?
But I've heard it said the game originated in either Iraq or Iran with much fewer pieces, one of them being a "Shah". The game then migrated to Europe and the Shah was replaced by the Queen. I'm not sure on what century this all happened.
p-p-p-pparrish will p-p-p-pray for your soul, and I'll pray that his sole comes out moist and tender, with a crispy skin and a nice slice of lemon. Et voila!
I wonder, if you put "luv" into a spellchecker, does it recommend "wuv"? Awww, wouldn't that be cute? i wuv u 2, pparrish, hee hee...i wuv u more...no, i wuv u more...

I'm sure the roots go back much further than the middle ages, but nobody had the cojones to write down how bad they lost back then, so this is what we have.
