I am wondering if anybody has traced the manufacturing of US flags, and if they are 100% american. The thought this question up when pondering the loss of textile mills that have almost all gone overseas.

I don't own a US flag. Not being from the US and all. Perhaps you would better if you didn't assume everyone was.

If the thread didnt pertain to you why would you reply. Are you so egotistical that you need to respond to all threads? Do you assume that all threads are directed at you?

There's no hint of assuming everyone is american, or owns an american flag. He just posted a simple question, asking if anyone had some info.

What are you so touchy over? Want to vent, there have been numerous threads of nonsense for you to pick apart. Surprised you didn't offer your endless supply of two cents.

Maybe you should have put into the title that it's about US flags.

The question was posed to promote thought about where a flag comes from, and at what point the materials incorporated in the flag attain thier symbolic value. This is relevent to most people that reside in countries that have flags. Some nations dont have the resources to manufacture flags whether its raw materials or machinery. That was what I was hoping responders would like to comment on. Reverence of a nations flag is virtually universal just look at the olympics flags lead the procession for the opening cerimonies.
The "your" was used to make the question personel.

I'm not sure about our flags but everything else I buy here in Canada has a made in China sticker on it. So I just assume......

Actually, I don't care where products are made. People need jobs wherever they live, and people who import and export goods also need jobs. I care more about the difference between what my flag used to stand for and what it means now.

you'd need a lot of tracing paper to trace afghanistan.

The rule is:
If it is cheap, its made in China.
If its expensive, its made at home.
Sad but true.
