I've been trying to branch out and learn more about the world this summer. One big thing I've been trying to do is stay up on the news and find a good source. Don't worry, no Fox News for me. I've been checking out NPR recently, but I find there are people who think that's not reliable either.
Basically, i'm looking for direction, i don't want to be spoon fed false, unreliable, or biased information.
Originally posted by slickhareI don't think there is such a thing as truly unbiased, but I think NPR is pretty good. There is definitely a left bend on things and they also miss a lot of chances for "sharp lines" to use chess vernacular. I mean, they are often left leaning, but also often soft or missing opportunities to be hard hitting.

That said, I get most of my news from NPR during my commute. I check out BBC and sometimes bump around some blogs, but mostly NPR, BBC, CNN & local news. Keeps me informed enough for my personal taste.

I don't like Fox news but I will watch some of it just to understand that perspective and then compare it with different perspectives. My feeling is that since I can't find absolute truth, I can weigh the different sides of an issue and see what I come up with.
