Where to go for good, reliable news?

I've been trying to branch out and learn more about the world this summer. One big thing I've been trying to do is stay up on the news and find a good source. Don't worry, no Fox News for me. I've been checking out NPR recently, but I find there are people who think that's not reliable either.

Basically, i'm looking for direction, i don't want to be spoon fed false, unreliable, or biased information.

I don't think there is such a thing as truly unbiased, but I think NPR is pretty good. There is definitely a left bend on things and they also miss a lot of chances for "sharp lines" to use chess vernacular. I mean, they are often left leaning, but also often soft or missing opportunities to be hard hitting.

That said, I get most of my news from NPR during my commute. I check out BBC and sometimes bump around some blogs, but mostly NPR, BBC, CNN & local news. Keeps me informed enough for my personal taste.

I don't think unbiased exists, or can exist. I check out a variety of different sources for local news. For national and international news I look at what the Candians and BBC are reporting on.

I don't like Fox news but I will watch some of it just to understand that perspective and then compare it with different perspectives. My feeling is that since I can't find absolute truth, I can weigh the different sides of an issue and see what I come up with.

Ask any homeless person

Most of them are psychic
