Not a prisoner of the Japanese, setting but the only POW film that I can remember enjoying, Von Ryan's Express.

The railwayman was a good watch

The Bowie film was, ERM, hard work

Why isn't Bridge over river kwai offered up on first post?

What about "The great Escape". I would rate it quite high.

Not really POW films but both Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of Our Fathers were possibly the best war genre films that I have seen. The former is exceptional.

Good point ... it was a great film.

Now I have 4 to choose from!

(The Railyman for me though ... 9/10 onion eyes)

Well not strictly true, but if I told you it would be a spoiler for you, just watch Letters from Iwo Jima and tell me its not the greatest war genre film you have ever seen!
