If no one asked "silly" questions, we would still think we were the center of the solar system and that malaria was caused by bad air. I'm surprised that a biologist would want to avoid talking about biology so much. When I was little, most of my silly questions got answered and I am much better off today for it.
Nah not insulted by an insinuation that God created birds (via evolution or spontaneously), however, was I supposed to get that from "God supports England". hmmm missed your rather accute angle on a humourous answer for a 5yr old child.
God made them like that works though.

Nothing "just is". Just suck it up and try to explain the truth.
