I'm yet to play a game on it 🙁

My chess board is the best, it has a snakes and ladders board on
the reverse which also serves as an occasional small table.

I would imagine pieces carved from sharp cheddar and swiss, placed upon a Black Bomber and parmigiana board might qualify.

Sounds great...Er, my table also serves as a cheese board.

I am about to ~ courtesy of my kind sister in the UK who missed - giftwise - my birthday in 1998, which I reminded her of recently, whilst, coincidentally making a specific implicit rather than explicit suggestion about rectification ~ lay my hands on a set of hardwood chess pieces - that I myself could not afford, but she drives a convertible sports car and she's my sister - weighing 3 kgs with kings that are 16 cm tall and have bases 6 cm wide.

some people have more than one chess set. I have the Isle of Lewis set, which I have never used..kind of bonkers to buy something and then never use it..

I had the cheapest hollow plastic chess set, staunton design. I filled the pieces with plaster of paris, stuck in metal discs (slugs) for weight and glued on some felt. A+ chess set!
