How come we say America and Americans when we really mean USA and USA... sans?

😕

Ok, I think I understand now.

But how come it's called the United States of America, when it's not really all of America?

Why not United States of North America? Or better yet: "United States of Middle North America, a Slice of the Most Northern Part of North America and a group of Islands in the Pacific"? Yeah, that should do it. Those USMNAAPMNPNAIP:ans couldn't come up with anything better than the USA. 🙄

Or maybe just the US, come to think of it.

!! 😲

Oh! I see. So it should be United States, period. And we call them USes, because we're all gonna be part of the United States one day. Just one happy world of USes everywhere.

😕

No, wait! USes kinda rhymes with...

Chain letters, combined with a few well placed clicks of the mouse, probably.

Can Cheeta still understand you?

(Irrelevant trivia: Cheeta has the Guiness record for the oldest chimpanzee)

It is the United States of America, there are 50 of them... you'll find them between Canada and Mexico. Where does that name imply that these united states of ours should cover all of North and even South America?

As for Americans... I don't much care for that either. Very strange considering the number of countries in the Americas. It should be "US Americans" as this learned young lady points out:

There are more states in the Americas that are united. Canada has a few, so does Mexico, not to forget Brzil, and some others I think...

I have thought of that to - is USA the only country in the world who does not have a proper name? Only a description, and a faulty one too...?

I prefer to refer to them as The Fourth Reich, or the Fourthies, for short.

Should the name have been "An United States of America between Canada and Mexico"?

Why not have a real name? Not only a descriptive name?
Like Kennedia after president Kennedy or something...?
Or Bushland after president Bush, either of them...?
Perhaps Obamia, of Clintonia, or another good name of it's own as every other coutnry has?
