what does refer to mean. Refer to as in use as a point of reference, or refer to as in bring up in conversation? or does it matter?

It may not be easy to prove that it's the same person, although I agree that 3(b) doesn't fit. It doesn't even fit if they are two persons.

Are you suggesting that one player enlisted a distinct confederate to play and lose a dozen or more games through the same simple, early mate? Besides, that isn't what "assisted by a third party" means here. After all, if two players are in collusion there is no third party.

Yes, It should be considered cheating...Perhaps a good thing to add to the Rules...Ban any collusion between two players, along with the two players...Throw in the SANDBAGGERS at the same time 😛

Amen to the sand-baggers. It seems like I can't maintain a rating because every time I start getting ahead, along comes these under rated players and they clean my clock. The same clock players in my own class have a difficult time doing. These guys do it with no effort. It has a discouraging effect. Several times I have considered just dropping out, but this is the best site I have found.

First off I can't understand why anyone would cheat at chess.

It's just weird.

I mean, seriously...what a waste of time. Cheating at chess???!!!???

Are you kidding me???

Why don't you cheat the MAN instead?

I'm no cheater, now as far as being a sandbagger, I mean
I have some pretty pathetic games where I don't know what I was thinking.
I probably wasn't thinking and that's the problem. I have lost way too many games from timeouts. I guess I was being to ambitious with regards to the number of games I thought I could handle.
But when I'm on...and my mind is clear and I have time to sit and ponder all the different combos...I can take down the big guys.
So, whatever.
It's all perception anyways.
I'll throw in some more cliches later.

You are not even close to being in the same ballpark as the sandbaggers 😉 !!!

If you check out the opponents for the 2 removed players, you will find there's a third who has also been banned, although he hasn't yet shown up in the removed players list. I didn't go back very far, because my computer takes about 90 seconds to load one profile page. So there may even be more than 3 people in the gang.

My guess as to why they're classified as 3(b) is that they're cheating their unsuspecting opponents. 3(a) are just bagging extra free games, i.e. cheating the website owners.
