it seems to me that rhp is addicting to almost everyone who uses it. This includes me. Does anyone have a clue why it is so addictive?

Fine chess in good company. Well...I'm not so sure about one, but the other is definitely true. 😉

lol I agree completely. I constantly say to myself "My god, I have 20 games in progress! I'm not going to start another game until I finish a few!" And yet when I sign on and there's no moves for me to make, I always do an open invite. I think Russ should start a program to help those of us addicted to chess. Most of us start off at checkers and are fine, until we start playing two or three games a day, and then its not enough, and we need more, and then some of us move on to backgammon and then that isn't enough, and next thing you know...!!!!..... well, its just sad, isn't it.

Regretfully,

-Kev

Someone once cancelled their subscription to the site. Their reason? It was too addictive...

I am imagining all of us meeting in some seedy back alley dive. It's dark and dirty and smokey. We give the bartender, Russ, the secret sign and $20 and he pushes the buzzer and lets us into the "back room", a room full of pc's all set at rhp. There are others like us here, some haven't seen the daylight in weeks. Thin and pale, they are staring at their screens, moving pieces, analyzing the board, pouring endless cups of stale strong coffee down their throats. A soft chant is heard......chess.....chess......chesss......

I'll add Comedy to the list - look at what goes on in the Debates forum and you'll see what I mean. My only worry is that we'll start to get real factionalism, something so many web forums succumb to.
