I am on the line here. I like the forums. But am not sure if this is the site for me. If anyone can tell me why I should join perhaps I will be swayed one way or the other.

If you like lots of games, subscription will bring you more games than you can handle, or as many as you are comfortable with.

I took abut 7 days to join... I just wanted to have a forum avatar and profile pic! It surprises me it was years ago already...

Another user and I talked about passing our user names onto our grand children someday... and telling them to do the same.... could there be a user named Phlabibit here a hundred years from now? Who the heck is it??

I'm sure there will be. It'll probably be you actually. You'll probably cling to life just so you can cruise the forums. Either way there probably will be, at the very least to keep the memory of you alive; what ever little there may be 😉.

It really depends on what your purposes on this site are. If you are looking for more challenges like playing in clan games, tournaments then it would be best for you to subscribe. But you have already stated very clearly that you are only interested in the forums. If that's the case it makes no difference whether you subscribe or not!

Only fools and those whom are unsure of themselves do not ask questions. I was seeking others advice and you are clearly unable to muster up a decent thought process. I now ask you to remain silent unless an adult speaks to you first.

I like the forums and love chess I have been playing for over 20 years. I like this site what does this site have that other sites do not(beside this nutley jerk)

He's not really that bad 😉
Well,
a) the forums are great.
b) Clans are fun... just watch it that you don't join too many right away. Clan leagues are cool too.
c) Tournaments are loads of fun (imho even more than the clan business... though I only play in banded tournaments).
d) There's something great about sieges, I just haven't figured out wht it is.
e) There are really really nice people here. OPbviously, there are also some jerks, but I found a lot of friends on here.

You'll be able to play more games against more challenging opponents than you are currently facing. These games will be easier to come by, and will be more exciting because they have various themes to them.

You'll receive more respect in the forums which is an unfortunate truth.

There are lots of other reasons that can be found by clicking on someone's star.

Don't do it. There are no meaningful benefits whatsoever. Only gimmicks. Costly gimmicks at that.

There are so many reasons it's just silly!

I have made countless friends, from all over the world. I see the same 'faces' everytime i log on, which simply doesn't happen on bigger sites.

You can enter tournaments against players of your own level. You can play tournaments against much stronger players. There are thematic tournaments, duals (where you play 1 person at a time in a knockout competition).

There are teams, where you can be a member of an international group of friends, all battling in a common cause, which rocks!! There are Team Leagues also.

In fact, just about every type of correspondence competition is available here. You can enjoy this site as a non-subscriber, i did for a month or so, but if you enjoy it as a non-sub, you'll positively adore it as one! It's cheaper than most, and i can positively say, i've never had a better spent £20, EVER! 🙂

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.
