My favorite cat died today - wasted away by cancer - it was very sad.
When I set out to bury her I realized someone had stolen my only shovel, right from my driveway.
Why? That has to be the stupidest thing ever stolen. I had to go to Home Depot to get a new shovel just to bury my cat.
Originally posted by RookRAKScenario 2 doesn't seem that unreasonable. It could also have been taken and then given to some friend or relative, used to smash mailboxes or chop cactus (I guess you don't have cactus up there).
Actually, yes.
Where I live (semi-rural New Hampshire) lots of people don't even lock their doors. I think you could leave your wallet on the front seat of an unlocked car most days and nobody would take it.
So - trying to understand how my shovel was taken -
Scenario one: someone on my street goes out to do some gardening, realizes he doesn't own ...[text shortened]... ake that guys shovel, that will really annoy him!" I can't see this as plausible either.
Maybe they buried it in your yard. That'd be ironic.

Have you looked everywhere for it? I bet it is in the last place you look.

Sorry about your cat. :'(

Maybe someone had to borrow it quickly to fight off the zombie next door. I think shovels are good weapons against zombies.
