There is no good reason why a player should feel they " MUST" resign - it is all a matter of their own choice.

I feel I MUST resign when I am 2 or so moves from being mated, or am 2 pieces or so down, or generally getting my tail handed to me in a game.

I'm two pieces down in a game against a 1950 with only positional advantages, and think I'm winning. 🙂 (well, actually I just took one piece back)

I'll post the game when it finishes. it's pretty wild if I can pull it off...

I don't resign unless it's absolutely clear I'm lost. I'll keep playing a rook down, no problem. I guess my limit is about where I think even I could win kasparov in the same position. with rook odds I wouldn't have much chance, but maybe a queen up... yea, that's about where I resign.

I agree, I would resign when all seems lost, but there is no reason to feel that you MUST do so. [that's my opinion anyway]

Any more extraneoueous exclamations and questions marks and I am confiscating your shift key, sir! Both of them in fact. Through the internet!
