I presently have a 7 yr old IMac & need to purchase a new computer. I'm considering a window vista PC. Anyone have a vista? If so how do you like it? Any imput would be apprecaited.

I've heard conflicting stories about it. I tried it out myself and didn't really like it but I'm a real XP user and didn't give Vista much of a chance. Last I heard was that it was a little buggy but I'd assume they'd have fixed that now. If you used to be a mac user the interface might be a little easier too I hear. Either way, I'm sure you're gonna get conflicting stories on here. My vote is no, go XP.

if you like your mac, why change? just get a new mac!

i don't have vista, but i've mostly heard bad things. mostly that it isn't complient with a great many programs (for instance, if you have a printer you may need to get a new one as the drivers often aren't being updated, i believe), and is still quite buggy (but that is to be expected of any now OS, really).

You know, mac really is starting to get better. As they steal more and more of microsoft's ideas and partners (cough cough intel cough cough) they continue to develop a better, if not more expensive computer. But really, Apple should just stick to overpriced hard drives with fancy metal coatings.

I have a laptop running with Vista. I myself have not had too many problems. Alot of the problems that I hear about (I work in a call center, tech support) are issues with people have had XP on a computer, and then upgraded to vista. The old pc just...doesnt meet the specs and they run into issues. My laptop Came with vista, and has worked beautifully. (other than an issue with DRM) Ohh, and the whole "continue or allow" crap. However, if you hare use to mac, then go with that.

they are hitting the young market well though, what with iPods, student deals and the like. i pretty much use my computer just for surfing the net, and i use a couple of specialist programs (but i can use them on uni computers), so there really is no reason why i should stick with a PC. thus, the choice going down to...price. and gadgets. the price is close, but apple have the gadgets...

but i think i'll save my money and stick to my old laptop. my point is though, apple are doing extremly well. i was genuinely surprised you hadn't noticed. ๐Ÿ˜›

maybe it's because i'm young ๐Ÿ™

lol I'm 15. I just can't stand kids that think they're cool because they have an iPod. like cmon people it's a cheap piece of metal with a 20 dollar hard drive that's way overpriced. Go buy an mp3 player.. if you haven't noticed it's the same damn thing!

And those retarded 1 button mouses that mac first used.. don't get me started.

And those new retarded 'hi I'm a mac' commercials ... isn't that false advertising.. do they have small print 'item not exactly as shown'?

Blah!!!

... ok rant over ๐Ÿ˜€.

edit - Rant not over yet... iTunes ... SUCKS! Windows Media Player is the most precious thing I own compared to itunes. Why don't we make EVERY format incompatible and then take all the other ideas from Microsoft and add a stupid status symbol of a name. And surprise.. you've just legally stolen 50% of microsoft's market without even inventing anything!

... okay.. rant done for now.

ah-but you can use a 2 button mouse in an mac! they just don't give you one. or you can do ctrl+click and there! you just right-clicked!

to be fair, if you think apple are low you should check out the dossier on microsoft. ๐Ÿ˜‰

same experience, saved me writing it!

only issue is networking with XP - bit tricky, but the original thread poster won't need to worry about that.

I admit that apple is doing good and even putting out some decent quality products. But the only reason apple is doing so well is because of their advertising. Their line of 'iProducts', their commercials, bashing microsoft, etc. And when apple started using intel processors... like c'mon...

Hehe - that makes a change to hear that. It's usually the other way round.

well, champagne isn't necessarily the best sparkling wine. it is just the wine that has had the worlds greatest advertising. ever. so now everybody think it is....

You plainly have never tasted a proper champagne.

Go see if you can find yourself a 1996 Perrier Jouรซt, which shouldn't be too expensive, and then come back and say what you said about wine again!
