I somehow made it two lines high and I can't drag it back down without completely hiding it. Any ideas guys?

I'm worried it might attract hedgehogs.

It often works to turn the Quick Launch toolbar off, resize the Taskbar if it doesn't resize itself automatically and then, if you use it, turn the Quick Launch bar back on.

To turn the Quick Launch bar off, right click on an empty space on the Taskbar, go to Toolbars and click on Quick Launch to uncheck it. Repeat to re-check.

Also, you might have to unlock the taskbar by right clicking on a clear part and un-ticking the option to lock it.

As long as the hedgehog isn't purring, you'll be fine. You can also keep a child handy and toss its arm to the hedgehog if you feel you're in danger.

Thanks Dr., but that didn't work.

I can hear an ominous purring sound coming through the window...

...and there are no children here!

It's OK, I had a spare Chuck Norris lying around so I fed him to the beast.

It's sleeping now, and I have a dilemma: do I find the solution to my taskbar problem or order some children straight away?

Better get some children first. It might wake up any moment.

Well, the children could take up to four hours to arrive, but there's a Chuck Norris emporium a mile's drive away.

I think I'll order some kids and grab a carful of Chucks just to be on the safe side. (I'll probably have time to reinstall windows then).

I wouldn't reinstall windows if I were you. There might be more hedgehogs just waiting for you to reinstall windows so that they can come in through them.

Dunno if you are serious but if you are you could try with the Taskbar unlocked, look for faint, vertical probably dotted lines (the separators, which also might be a solid bar) around the Quick Launch bar. Drag the line on the left back up near the top of the Taskbar, next to the Start button and drop it there. 🙂

ps; you could do a system restore rather than reinstalling.

I do have a serious problem here, which is bugging me. Thanks for trying to help. I shouldn't have mentioned the damned hedgehogs! The quick launch bar is right next to the start bar; the separator won't move. On the top line I have the Start button and the QL bar, then some empty blue space, with my open apps on the bottom line. That separator doesn't move either. The notification bit with the date etc. takes up both lines on the far right.
