I'm sick of all the wires we need nowadays to connect all our electronical wizzgets. All around the rooms are wires - hanging like loose worms and making a mess. I went to IKEA and bought "wire tidy" - what a load of *&^%$. Looks like I have a power generator wrapped around my place now....

When will somebody, (calling all electrical experts now), invent something that can send power from the socket directly to the source required, without the use of wires?? That's my challenge to you for 2008! 😉

This is why you see people from the future wearing silver suits... and they are all bald.

What you need is a transformer in the socket, and a transformer in the electrical appliance, something like that, that'd work. 🙂

How mate? 240V flying from transformer to transformer? via your legs and......?

There's enough brains on this site to sort this out! Isn't there? 😳

The technology is already here. Unforunately Riyadh Cables Group owns the patent for it and ain't letting it go. :'(

Errmmmmm. You would need two mothe of all coils if there was to be any sort of distance between them. You would also need a shed load of power flowing through them. Not only that, massive amounts of electromagnetic radiation would be given off. Simply not practical.

They said all that about the Japanese trains running on electro-magnetism 15 years ago...... but I don't hear of strange births around the tracks there. Can we do the same?

Ooops..... didn't read! The technology is about??..

Let's us all beat it. Can we?....... brainstorming session please. I have to go to bed... but I expect answers from the RHP ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT on my desk by tomorrow 10.00am (GMT+8)........ 😏

Draw a rectangle on a board...about 20 cm by 10cm.

Hammer a nail into each corner.

Wrap 5 meters of wire around the outside of the nails to make a rectangle.

Take out the nails and put the wire on a table.

Plug the wire into an electrical outlet in your wall.

The wire will float.

Not sure how this helps your situation though.

Considering the amount of power involved, electromagnetic powered trains have a reasonable proximity to the track. However, if you wished to power, let's say a television, via this means, the distance from the source in comparisson to the power consumed is wholly disproportionate. Also, considering that a 'normal' room has a few electrical items in it, every metal object in the room would be sparking and flying about like a scene out of Poltergheist!

I remember reading somewhere how they did a similar thing with charging a laptop batter from halfway across the room, with a similar type of set up, it was supposedly about 30% efficient. Don't give up hope so quickly. 😛
