In today’s plastics industry, a high demand on lowering part cost and increased quality of molded parts. The use of new technologies is needed to product these part. External gas molding is a new method that uses injection gas to create a smooth surface on the part. Water assist molding is a method that uses water instead of gas to further reduce time cycles of thick section tubular products. An overview of the principles and methods of External Gas Molding and Water Assist Molding will be presented.
Kevin Brady has been involved in the Plastics Industry in one capacity or another for the past 20 years. After completing his Associates degree in Business Management in 1984, he pursued a career in sales with molding supply company Plastic Process Equipment. He has since held various sales and sales management positions with machinery manufacturers such as EPCO, Boy Machines, Autojectors and Cincinnati Milacron. Kevin joined Cinpres as National Sales Manager for the North America in October of 2003. Kevin has been an SPE member since 1985, and has become very involved in the Structural Plastics Division of the SPI for the past two years. As Technical Program Chairman and Conference Vice-Chair for the annual SPD conference and Plastics Part Design Competition, he has been working to advance and promote the advanced technologies of processing plastics.
