3 straightforward clues (3 synonyms, 1 of which was a homophone), but I didn't put in any extra help, and paint isn't exactly short of synonyms. Sorry. Temperament is correct.

I racked my brain over the paint bit, having been through art college. I’m shamed to admit that egg tempera pigment didn’t spring to mind 😕
