No, the Dutch really have a bad team. They should have won eight years ago. But now, no, they won't be making it through the first round.
I've watched most holland matches over the past 4 years and they may not have the palyers that they had years ago, but the ones they do have are deveveloping into a very good team.

Well, and then you've got to consider that a major power and previous winner, despite its recent struggles, is hosting. I think that Brazil and Argentina make the quarters, the rest of the teams are European.
I agree, but that only strenthens my original arguement, that the USA are not truly one of the top 10 teams in the World, as surely a top 10 team would be a favourite to get to the 1/4 finals?

Quarterfinals is eight teams.
USA is ranked 8th in the world. That isn't the point, would a team in the top 10 not fancy their chances of getting into the last 8?

We don't see usa playing much in euroland but they played very well in the last world cup and they could do it again.

They should have gotten past Germany. They were denied a clear penalty off of a deliberate handball on the endline, which would have reduced the Germans to ten men. The US were very creative and aggressive in their attacking. They're ready to go once again.

Picture 4 shows the alleged handball. I watched that match and I seem to recall that there wasn't enough in it to merit a penalty (the ball was going to the hand rather than hand to ball). Is there a clip of this anywhere online?

Regardless, Germany were very, very lucky to escape from that game with a win.

Oh, I think the Dutch are lying in the tall grass. I think they're pissed off they're not seeded, they've got a good mix of veterans and youngsters, and they see that some European teams are overrated.

I think the Dutch are lying in the weeds, ready to pounce.
The Dutch made it into the semifinals in Euro 2004, so I don't see them crashing and burning next year. In fact, there are three teams in Pool 2 that none of the big guns want to face in the first round: Portugal, the Netherlands and Czech Republic (all Euro 2004 semifinalists, btw). The Czechs are the ones to watch out for.

I certainly haven't forgotten the Ashes - mind you, it was about time England won. 16 years of dominance by the Aussies and it got pretty boring really. Not fun to lose but oh well.. Next series here will be the test for the English! It was a terrific series though! :-)

Cabinet is looking empty indeed - not to worry though - given that over the past ...[text shortened]... cares enough to worry about how they go. Still, it's still fun to have a team to follow. πŸ™‚
It was a fantastic run the Aussies had but it had to come to an end, and about time another side stepped up to compete, cant imagine they will be down for long........ although the Kiwis almost took them despite chasing 320+!! Excellent ashes series, cant wait for the next one as this time I wont have to stay up to 4am every night (englishman living in sydney). I think its 28-30 overall so we still have a few to catchup on :0)

As for football....... its great to see the Aussies made the WC, and i hope they can make it past the groups...... I think the nation would love to face up to England just for the chance of knocking them out of a world cup....... unlikely but hey the world cup always has upsets.

Hope you get a good drawπŸ™‚πŸ˜€
