So, with the WC in full swing now in an icy cold South Africa, I'm interested to know a few things:

What is the foreign media reporting about SA not related to the games?

Also, has the type of perceptions that elephants roam through dirt streets between mud huts etc. been dispelled?

Would any of you, who never thought of us as a tourist destination, actually consider visiting here now, vuvuzelas notwithstanding?

I heard that the guys who robbed the photographers already appeared in court and some suspects were apprehended who mugged Chileans in Magaliesburg before the start of the tournament.

The reports I've seen on Danish TV and in Danish newspapers have all been positive. A lot of Danes in SA have been interviewed and they all have stories of extremely friendly people, dancing in the streets and lots of parties. Just as it should be.

I've considering visiting SA as a tourist before, and I still want to go.

Only real negative comments down here and Australia are the trumpets - like a being in a beehive. Coverage by all media has been great. A tiny tourism negative coming through is that it is unusually cold in southern hemisphere, ie SA, Aussie and NZ at present. Tourist are fed how great the weather is in SA, which it usually is even in winter. Even SA can't control the weather.

SA's are better sportsmen than Aussies, that has been proved in Rugby and Cricket. Aussie's just hate losing in anything and that could be their downfall if the get their tails between their legs.

A senior partner at my law firm is over there at the cup. As I have been to SA before I just gave the usual advice that it is not like NZ or Australia and one has to be careful where you go.

SA are certainly great hosts.

I haven't seen any news relating to organization, which is usually a good sign.

The usual reports are about the buzzing atmosphere and general feeling of excitement around the country and the awfulness of the vuvuzelas.

The television film crew which was robbed of $100,000 (Rand 500,000) of equipment were Kiwi and staying in approved FIFA hotel having dinner downstairs in the hotels restaurant. Great if they have been arrested and in courts already. That will be a positive response.

Who's coming over here to have a drink with me after realising you probably won't get an assegaai thrown at your head?
