0.11s is the largest increment the 100m has dropped since electronic timing was introduced. Hardly a small increment.
Assuming he knows he can beat the WR on any given day, can it be possible that he is holding back enough so that there's a good chance he'll get the WR again at the next meet?

The guy is incredibly wealthy now, whats an extra $100,000 to him every year?
I just don't think 'holding back', as you put it, is that easy in the 100m or 200m. He's good, but no that good.
He's lowered the 100m record by 1.64% (inc Beijing), that's the equivalent of running the 400m in 42.47s.

In sports, you can't assume anything -- who knows what kind of injuries may occur? - and who knows whether you're at your peak and will never be as good as you are on that day. He probably regretted easing up at last year's olympics.
forget bolt breaking the world record, that pole fault chick not getting a medal, the dude competing in the woman's event, ireland (yes ireland) have a person in the mens 400m final.
shock of the meet i'm telling you. no, forget that it's the shock on the century.
😉
edit: i'll open the book on places 1-7, what odds do you want?

it's the drugs. dude is on stuff we probably can't even test for yet. just make sure they freeze a blood sample.
(I say mid-teens because he's been putting in ridiculous times for his age-group since he was about 16 - possibly before).
