There seem to be conflicting answers about Firefox. Some say it's great, while others condemn it as a piece of crap. I think I'll give it a try, and if it doesn't work the way everyone says it should, I'll go back to IE.
Firefox is ONE popular alternative. You have no excuse for not trying others. For instance, there's also:
Netscape (Navigator)
Mozilla Suite (SeaMonkey)
Opera
And remember, by switching you also help to make the Internet a safer place for other users. Malicious software quickly propagates with IE's help...

I've had trouble with it.
It began to start multiple instances of itself in the background (ie, without the graphical user interface) The Task Manager showed it running three times.
So, I got rid of it because Mozilla refused to help me.
On the whole it was great for me. Than one day it wouldn't let me view any images on the site, most importantly the pieces on the board. I uninstalled and have been back to IE since then. Since mine and only a couple others are basically isolated, I suggest you try it out. You've got nothing to lose and if it doesn't happen to you, all the better. If it does, uninstall it. Note, the problem I had was only on this site.
