The suggestion to kick people off this site or further censor their
participation, is absurd. Most people reading the forum seem to enjoy
participating in the gentle give and take that goes on. The
moderators seem to be doing a reasonable job of keeping off the
most virulent of the posts.
Everyone has the option to talk or not to talk to a player during a
game. Or to resign a game at any time if your opponent is abusive.
Or to not read the forum messages. Or to delete unwanted emails.
Or to delete a challenge. I don't care about stevens and his marital
problems - don't read those threads anymore. If people inflated their
rating by cheating - so what.
Sure some of the players may be repugnant, abrasive, cocky - fill in
your own adjective - people. But they may are also be very good
chess players.
I lost 4 games to Baron and 2 to Xeno's alter ego Garry Kasparov.
They were good games and I am just am not up to their level. I
would enjoy playing either of them again. That is why I am here - for
chess. Also enjoy most of the discussions on this forum.
I partly agree with what you have to say, but why should anyone be expected to
resign their game because they are being abused? This would seem to be a case of
punishing the victim. By that logic, maybe if I were to berate and insult all my
opponents to the point where they resigned, then it would be me and not xenophobe
at the number one spot.
